Palm Beach – House 3
2009 – 10
Renovation to this existing 1990 steel framed house involved providing a shade structure to the front deck overlooking the ocean, extending the Upper Level bedrooms to achieve water views from all rooms, adding an extra bathroom to the lower level of the house, as well as renovating the existing bathrooms, timber deck and balustrades
A Vergola was built over the existing exposed timber deck, providing shade from the beating morning sun in summer, but allowing for sun to penetrate the house in the winter months. New galvanised steel and glass balustrades allows for uninterrupted views from anywhere in the mid level. New commercial grade aluminium sliding windows were also installed in the Kitchen/Family room to connect the room to the deck outside. Generally, services, lighting and insulation were upgraded to modern standards.
Client Testimonial
“Annabelle Chapman undertook a major renovation of our beach house in Sydney’s northern beaches.
“Every aspect of the house was changed except for the east and west walls. Before the renovation the house was seriously showing its age and origins as a 1970’s project house. Annabelle has transformed it into something truly wonderful.
“Not only was it her obvious high level architectural skills that produced such a great result for us but also of importance was her attitude and approach to both me as a client and to the builder. There was not a heated or difficult moment over the two years from initial discussions through to building completion. She did everything and more that she promised and was a delight to work with.”
