Cammeray – House
2010
This project took a 1920’s bungalow with poor connection to the rear courtyard and original configuration of rear lean-to kitchen and laundry, and transformed it into a modern home.
The rear section of the house was demolished and lowered to connect to the rear ground level and to create a lofty ceiling space for the kitchen/family/dining room. The new rear section of the house connects with the level courtyard with large sliding doors, allowing a seamless inside/outside flow.
Highlight windows bring an abundance of light and cross ventilation to the room. The living area is compact as the small site provided quite a challenge, but the high ceilings and large sliding doors give the room a spacious feel.
