West Pymble House
2022
A large level block with stunning trees in the centre of the front and rear yard allowed for lots of creative scope. The brief was for a family home to allow for entertaining and catering for separate spaces for adults and teenage children. The large kitchen, dining and living spaces extend across the site, opening onto a covered rear terrace and level lawn. The large tree in the rear yard shelters the swimming pool and cabana from the house, as well as providing for a secluded seating area under the shade of the tree.
Using Danish bricks both inside and out on the ground level, capped with matt black standing seam wall and roof cladding to the upper level, the materials give the house a unique character. Contrasting stained eaves, timber garage and front door gives some warmth to the black and grey tones.
